Ronald L. Cox, 67, of 2575 Brockman Ave., Marion, died in his home Friday, October 15, 2004, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, by Father José Comparán. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 2 - 6 p.m. today (Sunday) at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, with wake and sharing of memories at 5:30 p.m.

Ron was born February 22, 1937, the son of Almon and Louise Cook Cox in Leon, Iowa. On September 26, 1964, he married Nancy Wauters at St. Michael?s Catholic Church, Belle Plaine.

Ron served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1959. He retired in 1998 as a computer technician after working 35 years for Van Star.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; three daughters, Angie (Rick) Held of Marion, Anita (Jim) Reisner of Cedar Rapids and Rhonda (Dan) Tschantz of Urbana; six grandchildren, Allyson and Hailey Held, David Reisner (a brother or sister expected in March) and Joseph and Molly Tschantz. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Madalene Wauters and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Russell Lorey; brother, Rex; and father-in-law, Fred Wauters.

Ron was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was an avid Cardinal baseball fan and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially Sunday "pizza? night.

Ron was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered for his sense of humor in all situations and will be greatly missed. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Ghosh and the wonderful staff at Iowa Blood and Cancer Care Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Luke?s Hospice or memorial fund in memory of Ronald.
