Ronald “Jake” D. Jacobson, 66, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer in his home on Friday, June 24, 2016. Service:10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June, 29, 2016, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Rural Masonville, Iowa.
Survivors include his fiancé, Tammy Jacobson; daughter, Lori Jacobson; step-children, Jason Uhlenkamp, Trisha (Jason) Gardner, Nicholas (Megan Bednarek) Stratton, Heather (Tay Parker, Sr.) Stratton; step-grandchildren, J.J. Uhlenkamp, Hayley and Logan Gardner, Nolan Stratton, Tay Parker, Jr.; siblings, Mary Gibbs, R.J. (Julie) Jacobson, Jeff (Christy) Jacobson, Joni (Don “Merf” Merfeld) Jacobson; many nieces and nephews; his best friend, Jim (Tonya) Jackson; and his devoted dog, Bella.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rose Marie Ridenour; niece, Kendra Ridenour; and his cat, Dawg.
Jake was born on February 11, 1950, in Anamosa, Iowa, son of Dean and Ollie (Bemrose) Powers. He worked 10 years for Harnischfeger Industries, Inc. and then worked at Pioneer in Marengo, Iowa for 22 years, as a Production Technician. Jake enjoyed gardening, canning, John Deere tractors and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, but mostly he enjoyed spreading his love to his family and friends and had the biggest heart of anyone you’ll ever meet.
