Ronald H. Hon, 64, of Manchester, died Tuesday evening, August 23, 2005 at St. Luke?s Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 26 at the Manchester Gospel Hall by Robert Orr and Eric McCullough. Friends may call from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour before services at the Hall on Friday. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, rural Masonville.
Ronald was born on April 18, 1941, the son of Hugh H. and Garnet B. (Van Auken) Hon in Manchester, Iowa. He graduated from Manchester High School in 1959 and served in the Iowa National Guard. Ronald was united in marriage to Carma M. Smith at the Baptist Church parsonage on June 11, 1960. He worked for a time for Hawkeye Castings and at Don & Walt, LLC. After five years at the Iowa Highway Commission, Ronald farmed until retiring in 1998. He then drove school bus for West Delaware Schools.
Ronald was saved on February 9, 1975. He was in fellowship with the Christians at the Manchester Gospel Hall. Ronald will be remembered by his many smiles. He enjoyed spending time with his Bible, visiting with friends and fishing.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Carma Hon of Manchester; three children, Larry (Donna) Hon of Manchester, Kenneth Hon of Dyersville and Deanna (Seth) Collins of Marion; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Gail E. (David) Utley of Muscatine and Neola J. (Bob) Hansel of Manchester; and his father-in-law, Donald Smith of Manchester.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh & Garnet Hon; and his mother-in-law, Clara Smith.
