Ronald Vasily Dzaboff, 93, of Dyersville, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville is assisting with arrangements.
Ron was born on November 29, 1930, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Harry and Lucille (Vreeland) Dzaboff. He graduated from Cascade High School in 1947, and after school Ron entered into the United States Army full term as an honorary veteran. Ronald V. Dzaboff married Virginia Althoff on February 10, 1954, at Temple Hill, Iowa; six children were born to this union. Ron was the founder of Dzaboff and Son’s Construction Company and worked the Soil Conservation on Iowa farms. Much of his work is still prevalent today in waterways, ponds and for decades to come. Ron was a golden glove champ for seven years. He loved going fishing, attending fish fries, and going on cruises, but most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Ron will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Ron is survived by his six children, Gary Dzaboff, Amy Knutson, Jody (Ron) Elgin, Jeff (Bonnie) Dzaboff, Ron (Jane) Dzaboff, Penny (Al) Salow; seven grandchildren., Lindsay (Sam) Rave, Abby (Phil) Holtz, Sammie Salow (fiancé Seth Fuller), Zach (Angie) Salow, Derek Dzaboff, Ben (Maddie) Dzaboff, Aaron Dzaboff; four great-grandchildren Reese, Jordyn, Harper and Lincoln; and brother, Don Dzaboff.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia; brother, Don Gantenbein; sister, Mae “Sis” Charley; and in-laws, Frank and Vivian Althoff.
