Ronald D. Burmeister, 66, of 2206 Reynolds Avenue SW, died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at St. Joseph?s Hospital, Wichita, Kansas, following a sudden illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2003. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Jacquelyne; a daughter, Julie Hamilton and husband Mike; a son, David Burmeister and Shanon Barnes, all of Cedar Rapids; his stepchildren, Don Campbell of Mt. Vernon, Tracy Wadsworth, and Shelley Ellickson and husband Don, all of Cedar Rapids; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Burmeister and wife Pat of Illinois; and five sisters, Belva Coffey and husband Bill of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Bethel Rinderknecht and husband Al of Marion, Joan DeCoster and husband Paul of California, Shirley Milota and husband Jim of Marion, and Diane Severson and husband Boyd of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a stepson, Gary Campbell.
Ronald was born June 19, 1936, the son of Louis and Ruby Scheel Burmeister, in Elberon, Iowa. He served with the United States Air Force. Ronald married Jacquelyne Hickman on May 5, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. For 30 years, he worked for the City of Cedar Rapids and was manager of the Veterans Memorial Stadium and Veterans Memorial Coliseum, retiring in 1999. Ronald was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
