Ronald G. Bower, 77, of 3410 12th Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, December 27, 2005, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, of lung cancer. Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, Iowa, by the Rev. Leo Andersen. Friends may call from noon until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery with military honors.
Survivors include his brothers, Charles Bower of Phoenix, Arizona and Jerry Bower Sr. of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Lucy Harger of Cedar Rapids.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Don Black of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivyle and Maxine; and a brother, Milton Bower.
Ronald was born July 4, 1928, in Fairmont, Minnesota, the son of Ivyle and Maxine (Livermore) Bower. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a medic. He was a member of the honor guard at Arlington National Cemetery before serving as a medic in Korea. He was employed by the city of Cedar Rapids from 1968-1993.
