Roma Jean Dicken, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the funeral home, conducted by Chaplain Deb Black. Burial: Dysart Cemetery, Dysart, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Linda (Allen) Howe, Karla (Norbert) Sedlak, Jr. and Steven (Mary Beth) Dicken; eleven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Grace) Thompson and Jim (Vicky) Thompson, all of Cedar Rapids; and sister-in-law, Sharon Thompson of Tempe, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Thomas in 1951; two grandsons, Norbert Sedlak III and Adam Kane; and brother, Don Thompson.
Roma was born on June 12, 1926, in Traer, Iowa, daughter of Herbert and Anna (Young) Thompson. She graduated from Dysart High School in 1944 and later received her clerical business degree. On June 10, 1945, A. Lloyd and Roma were united in marriage. She worked as clerical associate at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa and Minnesota Protective Agency in Cedar Rapids. Roma was a member at Trinity United Methodist Church and Elks Lodge. She enjoyed bird watching, bowling and eating out at her favorite restaurant, the Olive Tree.
