Rev. Roland Norman Hischke (LCMS), 74, of Marion, died Friday, July 22, 2011 at his home. Family will greet friends from 3-5 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2011, at King of Kings Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where memorial services will begin at 5:00 p.m, conducted by Rev. Mark Halvorson. Private family burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include his children, Kevin R. (Martha) Hischke of Northglenn, CO, Darrell L. (Karen) Hischke of Wauwatosa, WI, Brian K. (Nancy) Hischke of Burlington, WI, and Pamela Sue (John) Krog of Central City; 7 grandchildren, Laura, Jacob, Jessica, Zachary, Joshua, Kevin, and Adam; 2 great-grandchildren, Molly Rae and Michael Andrew; and siblings, Margaret Golding, Ruth (Orlyn) Wik, Irm Becher, Martin (Elenore) Hischke, Rev. Waldemar (Anita) Hischke, Mona Pfefferkorn, and Paul (Lynn) Hischke.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and brother, Karl Hischke.
Roland was born October 1, 1936, in Suring, Wisconsin, the son of Fred and Martha (Struck) Hischke. He graduated from Suring High School and Concordia Seminary in Springfield, Illinois. Rev. Hischke was ordained July 14, 1963, and served The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod until his retirement in 2004. On August 11, 1956, he was united in marriage to Helen Anne Wenger at Kellner, Wisconsin. Helen died November 29, 2008. Rev. Hischke was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
