Roger Hale Von Voltenburgh, 71, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, November 16, 2009, surrounded by his family. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Darran Whiting. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannette; six children, Douglas (Laura) Von Voltenburgh of Bennett, Colorado, William (Cathy) Allen of Titusville, Florida, Barbara Juergens of Marion, Lori (Rick) Dawes of Hiawatha, Robert (Pattie) Allen of Cedar Rapids, and Halee (Tom) McBroome of Austin, Minnesota; fifteen grandchildren, Chelsea, Danielle, Adam, Justin, Daniel, Elisha, Tiffany, Hannah, Amanda, Kara, Anthony, Krystin, Elijah, Megan, and Koby; eight great-grandchildren; and faithful companions, Dory and Dolly.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Roger was born November 21, 1937, the son of Lyle and Marjorie (Hale) Von Voltenburgh in Cedar Rapids. He married Jeannette Seewald on June 26, 1965, in Aurora, Colorado. Roger served with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea from 1962-1965. He worked at Quaker Oats for 23 years, retiring in 2001.
