Roger Alan Schmidtberger, 51, of Toddville, Iowa, died Monday, December 10, 2007, at St. Luke’s Hospital, following a short illness. Services: 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 14, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends from 4 ?" 7, Thursday, December 13, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Julie; his parents, Charles and Rosalie (Naylor) Schmidtberger of Marion, Kansas; a son, David Schmidtberger of West DesMoines, Iowa; a daughter, Stacy (Nathan) Ross of Ankeny, Iowa; and a step-daughter, Nicole Bowers of Toddville, Iowa. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Ashley Schmidtberger, Austin Wolfe, and Isabella Ross; a sister, Lori (Pat) Loney of Derby, Kansas; a brother, Michael (Brenda) Schmidtberger of Gardner, Kansas; one nephew, Jeremy and 2 nieces, Kaitlin and Morgan.
Roger was born on June 9, 1956, the son of Charles and Rosalie (Naylor) Schmidtberger, in Russell, Kansas. He moved to Marion, Kansas in 1963 and graduated from Marion High School in 1974. He spent 13 years in the Kansas National Guard. Roger married Debbie Edmunds in September of 1975 in Marion. He later married Julie Bowers in September of 2004 at Matsel’s Bridge. Roger worked for many years as a diesel mechanic and owned his own small engine repair shop in Toddville, Iowa.
Roger was an avid reader and loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Roger’s name.
