Roger Robertson, 90, of Central City, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014, at the Meth-Wick Community, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014, at the funeral home in Central City, by Pastor Jennifer Filter. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City, with military honors provided by American Legion Wapsie Post #421 of Central City.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Lorraine; three children, Terry (Karen) Robertson of Central City, Denise (Jim) Frank of Urbana, and Dean (LuAnn) Robertson of Shell Rock; eight grandchildren, Amy, Angela, Kimberly, Shane, Andrea, Holly, Jeff, and Bryan; 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Doris (Don) Schminke of Austin, MN; and two nephews, Ron Robertson and David Goodlove.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, Wilbur, Kenneth, Pauline, Paul, and Zella; and grandson, Jamie.
Roger was born May 6, 1924, in Anamosa, the son of John and Cora (Kleinfelter) Robertson. He graduated from Central City High School in 1943. Roger was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during WWII. He married Lorraine Marie Coleman on January 25, 1947, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Roger was a dairy farmer in the Central City area for over 37 years. He was a member of United Parrish Church in Coggon.
