Roger W. Peyton, 59, of Waubeek, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007, in his home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Central City by Rev. Bill Nissen. Burial: Jordan?s Grove Cemetery, rural Central City. The family will greet friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce, who has been at his side thru sickness and health and loved him dearly; two sons, Tracy (Tara) Peyton of Marion and Todd (Shannon) Peyton of Central City; a daughter, Michelle "Missy? (Jerry) Peyton of Ely; three brothers, Robert (Bert) Peyton of Wisconsin, Jimmy (Louise) Peyton of Independence and Tom (Charlotte) Peyton of Quasqueton.
Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Allen Peyton.
Roger was born on August 5, 1947, in Independence to Earl and Fern (Fay) Peyton. He graduated from Troy Mills High School. Roger served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a farmer for many years and was also a self-employed contractor.
Roger was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, fishing and enjoyed his time spent farming.
