Roger O. Jones, Sr., 75, of Dubuque and formerly of Delhi, died Sunday June 29, 2008 at Finley Hospital in Dubuque following a short illness.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester by Neil J. Krist. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2008 and one hour before services at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Manchester.
Roger was born September 3, 1932 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of James C. & Viola M. (Marshall) Jones. He attended school in the Dubuque area. Roger was united in marriage to Mary Williamson on January 19, 1951., and to this union were born three sons and two daughters. Later Roger married Carol Cole. Then married Kathy Cole; to this union was born one son. Roger married Rosemary Radtke, February 14, 2008, both living at Dubuque Nursing and Rehab where they received nursing care. Roger worked at John Deere Dubuque Works for 22 years and retired in 1973.
Roger was a crossing guard for Cuba City schools, and was a union steward. Roger loved to fish, play cards, shooting pool and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary, of Dubuque; his six children: Roger Jr. (Sharon) Jones of East Dubuque, IL, Charles (Marilyn) Jones of Manchester, IA, Patricia (Rob) Carr of Ft. Wayne, IN, Mark Jones of Butler, IN, Todd Jones and John Jones of WI; one stepson, Eldon (Sharon) Adams of Cuba City, WI; three brothers and two sisters, Jim (Shirley) Jones of Dubuque, IA, David (Jo) Jones of Lake St. Louis, MO, Joyce Myer of AZ, Sandy Genthe of McGregor, IA, and Bill (Lolita) Jones of SC.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends, including friends and staff at the Penn Center and Dubuque Nursing and Rehab.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, James and Viola Jones; his first wife, Mary (Williamson) Jones, one daughter, Doris Jean Jones; one grandson, Rodney Jones; and a great-granddaughter, Kiera Tucker.
