Roger Deming Johnson
April 29, 1954 — January 22, 2007
Roger D. Johnson, 52, of 5660 Colorado Drive S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, January 22, 2007, in his home following a courageous three year battle with cancer. Services: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, by the Rev. John Sheda. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his sister, Sheila (Larry) Streight of Cedar Rapids; his nieces and nephews, DeWayne Krizek, Denise (Bob) Loomis, Mike, Matt and Michelle Johnson, Jerry Melichar, and Robert and Michael Ross; great niece and nephews, Steven Krizek, Josh and Ben Johnson and Jade and Ben Ross; a very special friend, Meri Wade of Cedar Rapids; "adopted? daughter, Sara LeClere of Cedar Rapids; and his dog, Jack.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Lori Ross; and two brothers, Charley Johnson and Steve Johnson.
Roger was born April 29, 1954, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Woodrow Lincoln and Marcia Mentzer (Cargin) Johnson. In 1972, he graduated from Jefferson High School. For 24 years he was employed by the City of Cedar Rapids Street Department as a heavy equipment mechanic.
Roger enjoyed playing guitar and sharing his gift of music with friends and family. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing, camping and boating.
He was a loyal and good friend and will be greatly missed.
