Roger DeLay Curl, 64, of Marion, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, of cardiac arrest. Celebration of Life: 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2007 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion by Pastor Thomas Hedtke. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Jan; his son, Kevin Curl and fiancé Tiffani Fratzke of Cedar Rapids; his daughter, KaraJane Curl of Des Moines; his Aunt, Marjorie MacMaster of Sarasota, Florida; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon & Kathleen von Ahsen of Harlan, Jim and Marcia Baack of Homestead, Lodean Curl of Douglassville, Georgia; and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Cordell Curl; an uncle, Col. Ret. James MacMaster; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Orville and Elizabeth von Ahsen.
Roger was born June 5, 1943, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Floyd and Dellrose MacMaster Curl. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School and attended William Penn College. In 1961, he served briefly in the United States Air Force. He married Janice von Ahsen of Williamsburg on December 28, 1966. Roger was employed at Square D Company for twenty-four years. He enjoyed a hobby/business known as Roger's Coin and Gun. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion.
