Roger William Bries, 88, formerly of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on August 23, 2023, at Mercy One Senior Care in Dyersville, Iowa. Visitation will be held, Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 3 to 7 p.m. with a Scripture Service beginning 2:30 p.m. at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester. Mass of Christian will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 2023, with Additional Visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until service at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester, with the Reverend Gabriel Anderson officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.

Roger was born on December 31, 1934, Luxemburg, Iowa, the son of Arnold and Regina (Ulbrich) Bries. He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. Roger married MaryAnn Vaske in 1958, and five children were born to this union, the couple later divorced. He married Cynthia Edaburn in 2000, they later divorced. He was a lifetime farmer and loved the land. He enjoyed going out for a good meal, tending to his gardens, and most of all hunting in Canada and out west. Roger was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester and the Manchester V.F.W.

Roger is survived by his children, Randy Bries of Urbana, Iowa, Cheryl (Dan) Heffernen of Altoona, Iowa, Gary (Susan) Bries of Jackson, Wisconsin, Anita (Michael) Kerper of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; grandchildren; Jessica (Dave) Gogerty, Melissa Heffernen, Brian, Jennifer, and Julie Bries; three great-grandchildren, James, Callen, and Savannah Gogerty; his siblings, LeRoy (Verna) Bries of Garnavillo, Iowa, Virgil (Janice) Bries of Luxemburg, Ken (Lois) Bries of Dyersville, Mike (Marita) Bries of New Vienna, Iowa, Ron (Lee) Bries of Dyersville, Harold (Lois) Bries of Guttenberg, Iowa, Gerry (Karen) Bries of Dyersville, Arnie (Joyce) Bries of Dyersville, Thelma (Dave) Oberbroeckling of New Vienna, Iowa, Carol (John) Hartmann of Guttenberg, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Darlene Bries of Dyersville, and Theresa Bries of Monona, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Regina Bries; infant daughter, Phylis; siblings, Imogene (Carl) Feldman, JoAnn (Donald) Wille, Jim Bries, Charlie (Mary) Bries, Anna Marie Bries, Elmer Bries; and a dear friend, Virgene Bockenstedt.
