Rodney A. Aimers, 67, of 57 Wright Dr., Hiawatha, died Wednesday, February 18, 2004, in St. Luke?s Hospital, following a brief illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Chaplain Carol Potter.
Survivors include three sons, Robert (Kelly) Aimers of Cedar Rapids, Rodney Aimers and Dale Aimers, both of California; his mother, LuLu Aimers of Marion; two grandchildren, Katelynn and Trenton Aimers; two sisters, Amber (Greg) Beeler of Flossmore, Illinois and Audrey Swalley of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Allen (Judy) Aimers of Kansas City, Missouri; his good friends, Sheryl and Ken Quillin of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a nephew, Steve Swalley.
Rodney was born November 20, 1936, the son of Francis and LuLu (Schanbeck) Aimers, in Waterloo, Iowa. He served with the United States Marine Corp. Rodney was a race car driver in his younger years, worked as a manager of reconditioning for Allen?s Motor Company and most recently at Cedar Graphics. He was an avid bowler, golfer and enjoyed working with computers. Rodney loved to watch his grandchildren race Go-Karts.
