Robert V. Zingula, 89, of Central City, died Friday, August 29, 2014, in his home. His family will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Jordan’s Grove Baptist Church in Central City. A funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, following visitation at the church, by Pastor Steve Russell. Burial: Jordan’s Grove Cemetery, Central City.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; son, Curt (Gayle) Zingula of Central City; grandchildren, Brad (Shannon) Zingula of Rochester, MN, Elizabeth (Shawn Beilby) Zingula of Manchester, Brian Zingula of Toronto, Canada, and Jennifer Zingula of Central City; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Natalie, Katelyn, and Megan Beilby; and brothers, Richard Zingula of Houston, TX, and Gene Zingula of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Chris Andrew Zingula; daughter, Kristi Bobette Zingula; and sister-in-law, Pat Zingula.

Bob was born May 17, 1925, in Mt. Vernon, the son of George and Viva (Tudeen) Zingula. He attended Beach Rural School in Mt. Vernon, Pleasant Valley/Maine Township Schools of Linn County, and graduated from Marion High School. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, serving during WWII. He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and WWII Victory Medal for his service to his country. He married Evelyn Arlene Tillapaugh at the First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids on November 19, 1949. Bob was a lifetime farmer in the Central City area. He was former President of the Cattleman’s Association, The Farmer’s COOP of Central City, and former Vice President of the Linn COOP Oil Co. in Marion. Bob was an avid hunter, fisherman, and conservationist.

Memorials may be directed to Jordan’s Grove Baptist Church, Central City, or to Above and Beyond Hospice in Bob’s memory.
