Robert (Bob) Wright, 70, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Crestview Acres Care Center, Marion. Bob was born March 13, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Harvey and Freda Wright. He requested no visitation. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 26, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, by Father David O’Connor. Burial: St. John’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids with military honors. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; his children, Christina (Allan) Cornett of LeClaire, Robert (Dawn) Wright of Center Point, Michael (Christina) Wright of Marion, Justy Griffin of Cedar Rapids, Tracy (Rod) Hansen of Audubon, and John (Michelle) Grimm of Manchester; grandchildren, Sam and Sarah Church, Bobby and Becky Wright, Madeline Aretz, Maggie Wright, Marissa, Micaela, and Mariah Griffin, Brandon, Chelsie, and Reva Hansen, Matt O’Brien, Toby and Trevor Grimm; and two-great-grandsons, Karson and Weston Hansen. He is also survived by his two sisters, Shirley Martin and Florence Williams, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Freda, and his brother, Harvey “Buzz” Wright.

Bob graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids in June, 1963. He served in the U.S. Marines, and was awarded many medals, including his favorite, the Rifle Marksmanship. He served a short time in Vietnam on a secret mission and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in October, 1966. He married Linda Scott, and was later divorced. Bob then married Joyce Zeman-Grimm in 1989, in Cedar Rapids. He immediately started working for Ma Bell/AT&T in Cedar Rapids, and continued until 1991. He then started his own telephone business, Teletone Communications. Bob loved helping his family and friends working with antique phones, golfing, playing cards, Iowa wrestling team, and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and Marion American Legion Post #298.
