Robert "Bob? D. Wilson, 77, of Delhi, died Saturday, October 11, 2003 at the VA Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa after a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at the Delhi United Methodist Church in Delhi, Iowa. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home, Manchester, Iowa and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Burial with full military rites by Delhi American Legion Post #160 will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Delhi, Iowa.
Bob was born on July 8, 1926 in Delhi, Iowa, the son of Doran H. and Jeanette (Ridenour) Wilson. He grew up on the family farm near Delhi. Bob attended Delhi High School. He served in the United States Army from 1951-52 during the Korean Conflict and received the Purple Heart. On May 29, 1953 Bob was united in marriage to Wanda L. Luense. He lived and worked in the Delhi area farming and doing carpentry work.
Bob was a member of the Delhi United Methodist Church and the Delhi Legion Post #160. He enjoyed life to the fullest, doing what he loved to do. His life-long love of carpentry is evident throughout the area. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially if it involved a game of cards. His quiet spirit will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Wanda Wilson of Delhi; four children and their spouses, Cathy & Don Kaplan of Ely, IA, David & Susie Wilson of Earlville, IA, James & Julie Wilson of Manchester, IA, and Jerry & Eugenia Wilson of West Chicago, IL; ten grandchildren, Faith (Ryan) Livingston, Daniel Kaplan, Bethany Kaplan, Lindsey Wilson, Michael Wilson, Nicholas Wilson, Megan Wilson, Adam Wilson, Greg Wilson, and Kyra Wilson; a brother and his wife, Eldon & Velva Wilson of Delhi; a sister-in-law, Etta Wilson of Manchester; a brother-in-law, William Oehler of Delhi; and his mother-in-law, Edith Lou Luense of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Irene Oehler and Amber Salow; two brothers, Verl Wilson and Dean Wilson; and a brother-in-law, Walter Salow.
