Robert "Pappy? Wells, 59, of 13 Greene Street, Walker, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 2, 2003, in his home, following a sudden illness. Memorial Services: Monday, 5:30 p.m., January 6, 2003, at the Walker Bible Church in Walker with Pastor John Caughron officiating. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to service. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Walker.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marge (Ma) of Walker; his children; Robert Wells and wife Renae of Walker, Margie Lamphier and husband Kris of Center Point, Ken Carroll and wife Jennifer of Cedar Rapids, Jim Carroll and wife Jennifer of Cedar Rapids, Roy Blair and wife Mona of Walker; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Joey, James, Megan, Katelyn, Jason, Cameron, Jaklyn; a brother-in-law, Bud Taylor of Cedar Rapids;
and many other family members and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Mabel.
Robert was born March 22, 1943, in Orange, New Jersey, the son of Robert and Ruth (Braedel) Wells. He married Margaret Krug, on April 18, 1964, in Sayreville, New Jersey. Robert and his family then moved to Walker, Iowa, in 1976. He was a machinist at Goss for 25 years until retiring on August 18, 2001. Robert was a proud member of Machinist Union Local 831 and was attending Kirkwood College to further expand his knowledge in computers. He had a small room in his home, where he repaired fishing rods for his friends. Robert was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved fishing and camping with family and friends. He dedicated his life to his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
