Robert "Bob? H. Traver, 86, of Manchester, died Sunday, January 30, 2005 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester following a long illness.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2 at First Lutheran Church in Manchester with Rev. Jean Rabary officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home in Manchester and one hour before services Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Manchester with military honors.

Bob was born the son of Fredrick and Hattie (Hillier) Traver on August 5, 1918 in Manchester. He graduated from Manchester High School in 1936. On October 15, 1942 Bob was inducted into the United States Army. He served as Corporal during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was discharged September 22, 1945. On June 24, 1956 Bob was united in marriage to Ada Marie Detlefsen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. The couple farmed south of Manchester until retiring in 1996. Bob moved into the Good Neighbor Home in February of 2002.

Bob was a member of First Lutheran Church in Manchester and the Manchester VFW Post #6637. Bob loved playing cards and enjoyed watching game shows on television.

Bob is survived by his wife, Ada Traver of Manchester; one son, Michael "Mick? (Mary) Traver of Manchester; three grandchildren, Julie (Christopher) Kemp of Hopkinton, Chris Traver and Dan Traver, both of Manchester; and three great-grandchildren, Bryant Meyer-Kemp, Jordyn Kemp and Chauncey Kemp; one brother, Don (Bertha) Traver of Ryan; and a sister-in-law, Millie Traver of California.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick & Hattie Traver; five sisters, Blanche Jones, Dorothy Culbertson, Bertha Sheppard, Mildred Retz & Myrtle Wilkemeyer; and a brother, Howard Traver.
