Robert J. Stock, 81, of 2546 Indiana St. S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, May 21, 2007, in Mercy Medical Center, following a recent illness. Celebration of Life Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home the day of the service. Private burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, June; children, Lauri and Harry Graham and Jan and Todd Rosauer of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Hayley, Logan, Matthew and Kristen; sisters, Irene Stock and Marge Bates; and brothers, Paul, Dick and Russ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and two sisters.
Bob was born February 21, 1926, in Douds, Iowa, the son of George and Amanda (Rearick) Stock. On August 17, 1957, he married Irene June Readings in Bettendorf, Iowa. For 33 years, Bob was a Programming Statistician for Iowa Electric Light and Power at the Sixth Street Power Station.
Injured in a farm accident when young, Bob spent his life showing everyone he could do whatever he set his mind to. He worked tirelessly making the world a better place for those with disabilities. A long time resident of Cedar Rapids, Bob belonged to the Indoor Sport Club and served for many years as the president of the Citizens Committee for People with Disabilities.
Bob was a very loving husband and father who always had time for his family. “Poppy” treasured time with his grandchildren and enjoyed everything they said or did.
