Robert Dale Snyder, 80, of 1201 Summit Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, October 21, 2007, in his home from complications of Alzheimer’s. Services: 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bob Dagit. Friends may call from noon to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids; with military honors.
Survivors include his wife, Lila; daughter, Teressa Snyder of Cedar Rapids; son, Mark Snyder of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Jessica, Luke and Jacob; four step-children, Marcy (Dale) Usher of Marion, Greg (JoAnn) Snyder of Cedar Rapids, Jeff (Lisa) Snyder of Cedar Rapids and Kathy (Jerry) Eggert of Cedar Rapids; twelve step-grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren; a sister Phyllis (Gerald) Rockwell of Maquoketa, Iowa; and brother, Stewart Snyder of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steven Snyder; and brother, Marvin Snyder.
Robert was born April 5, 1927, in Monmouth, Iowa, the son of Philip and Ruth (Stowers) Snyder. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On November 30, 1985, he was united in marriage to Lila (Bramer) Snyder in Cedar Rapids. He was an over-the-road truck driver for CRST for many years and also farmed.
Robert was a member of the Teamsters and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, working on tractors and gardening. He loved to help others and was very helpful cleaning sidewalks and driveways for neighbors.
