Robert L. Dickson, 60, of 83 Simpson Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, April 25, 2010, in his home. Services: 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 30, 2010, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dan Clark-Bridges. Visitation: 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors by the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa; sons, Cory (Amanda) Brose of Coggon and Robert “BJ” Dickson of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Hayden, Conner and Cameron Brose; and father-in-law, Carl Brose; siblings, Charlotte (Jack Gillick) Wink, Joe (Laura) Dickson, Judy (Jerry) Moyle, Mary (Bill) Waddle, John (Irene) Ford, Debbie (Joel Brokaw) Mundorf and Diane (Pat) Kilburg; stepfather, Willis Dirks: many nieces and nephews; and special family members, Steven and Donna Robinson.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
Born October 30, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, Robert was the son of David Dickson and Alberta (Lathrop) Dickson-Dirks. He served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS America during the Vietnam War. On June 10, 1978, he was united in marriage to Teresa Brose in Cedar Rapids at Hope Lutheran Church.
Robert belonged to Hope Lutheran Church and the American Legion.
Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, bingo, playing cards, coin and card tricks, traveling, visiting Steven and Donna, family get-togethers, and spending time with his children. He always gave “Wow” kisses.
A memorial fund has been established in Robert’s memory.
