Robert "Bobby? J. Longerbeam, 81, of 1301 Summit, Marshalltown, died at the Marshalltown Medical Center, Tuesday, October 1, 2002, following long illness.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Ruby; a son, Irv Longerbeam of Cedar Rapids; stepdaughter, Carol Welsh of Williamsburg; three grandchildren; six great-grandchild; and his twin sister, Betty Childers, of Cedar Rapids.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruby, and two brothers, Virgil and Seward.
He was born on July 31, 1921, in Lisbon, Iowa, to Jack and Grace (Hamilton) Longerbeam . On December 21, 1963 he married Ruby Badding. Robert served in the United States Army during World War II. After being discharged from the U.S. Army, he worked at Penick Ford for twenty-five years and Cookman Security.
Robert was active in sports, he enjoyed playing pool, bowling and watching the Chicago Bears and the St. Louis Cardinals.
The family would like to thank the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown for their loving care of Bobby for the past ten years and to the staff of the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center for their loving care. The doctors and nurses were his good friends.
