Robert L. Johnson, 51, of Central City, died Thursday, September 19, 2003, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from injuries of a car accident. Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. Darran Whiting. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery in Central City.
Surviving are his wife Linda; their children, Dustin Johnson of Alburnett, Darren Johnson of Alburnett, Trevor Weber of Central City, Rusty Johnson and Wesley Johnson both at home; his father, George Johnson of Davenport; his in-laws, Welden and Clara White of Marion; and a granddaughter, Leeah Weber.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lela.
Robert was born the son of George and Lela Wolf Johnson on October 10, 1951 in Superior, Wisconsin. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1969 and attended the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy near Des. Moines. On May 3, 1997, in his home, he was married to Linda White. Robert was a diesel mechanic at Ruan, before becoming a deputy sheriff for Linn County for twenty-two years.
Robert spent most of his law enforcement career working as a patrol deputy and was an accident reconstructionist. He was always helping others and once helped train other officers on handling school bus accidents.
He enjoyed tinkering with things, country music, fishing and playing the piano.
