Robert "Lynn? Johnson, 71, of 2647 29th Avenue, died Tuesday, February 10, 2004, in his home following a sudden illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. Del Bear, with military rites by Marion American Legion Post No. 298, and Masonic services by Masonic Lodge No. 6. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lynn was born the son of John and Marian (Graham) Johnson on December 13, 1932, in Cedar Rapids. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. On October 30, 1953, in Marion he was married to Janice Schlueter. She died June 29, 1997. On March 21, 1998, in Mission, Texas, he was united in marriage to Shirley (Stimson) Clark. Lynn worked at Rockwell Collins as an electronics technician for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Marion Masonic Lodge No. 6 AF & AM and an avid member of Marion American Legion Post No. 298.
Lynn was a very gentle and quiet man and loved to beat his friends in pool, golf and bowling. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Lynn will missed greatly by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Keith; and a son, Mark, who died in 1978.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Terri Hemmerich and husband Bruce of Burlington, Kentucky; three step-sons, John Clark-Hansen of Marion, Jay S. Clark of Cedar Rapids and Jeff S. Clark of Boise, Idaho; and a brother, Dean Johnson and wife Bonnie of Marion.
Also surviving are two grand-children, Samuel and Spencer Hemmerich; and nephew, Jeff (Vickie) Johnson of Marion and their sons, Dustin, Chris and Travis; and his pal and driving companion, Hank, his dog.
A memorial fund has been established in Lynn?s memory.
