Robert A. Hurych
January 5, 1923 — April 24, 2005
Robert A. Hurych, 82, of Silver Pines Care Center, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a stroke. Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, with military honors.
Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Mahoney of Cedar Rapids and Arlene Dunlop of Neptune Beach, Florida.
Also surviving are five nephews; and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Donna.
Bob was born January 5, 1923, the son of Wencil and Emma Becicka Hurych, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A 1939 graduate of Wilson High School, he served with the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1946. On August 1, 1967, Bob was united in marriage to Donna Weldon. She died in 1981. For 41 years, he worked for Alliant Energy at the 6th Street Power Plant, retiring in 1982. Bob enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and animals and loved his wire- hair terriers.
Military honors by American Legion Hanford Post 5, of which Bob had been a 60-year member.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Robert.
