Robert M. Huey, 86, of 1245 Cardinal Drive, Marion, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Winslow House Care Center in Marion, from complications of COPD and a stroke. Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2007, at Springville United Methodist Church in Springville, Iowa, by the Rev. John Keizer. Friends may visit the family from 6 ?" 8 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 25) at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllys; a daughter, Susan (Gene) Siders of Marion; a grandson, Christopher Siders of Cheyenne, Wyoming; two sisters, Janice Hunter of Iowa City and Ruth Sweet of Sun City, California; and a brother, Gaylen (Orlane) Huey of North Liberty.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert was born September 19, 1921, the son of Forrest and Marjorie (McNeil) Huey in Cedar Rapids. He was united in marriage to Phyllys Franta on October 15, 1942, in Iowa City. Robert served in the U.S. Army during World War II in France. A longtime carpenter, Robert was also a building inspector for Linn County for the last twenty years. He was a member of Springville United Methodist Church and a 60-plus year member of Marion American Legion Post 298.
