Robert Gary Hoskins, 64, of 3525 29th Avenue, Marion, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, in St. Luke?s Hospital, following a sudden illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2005, at First United Methodist Church in Marion, by the Rev. Melissa Bracht-Wagner. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends today (Friday) from 4 to 8 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Surviving are his wife of forty-five years, Linda; two daughters, Laurie (Yeisley) Stramel and husband Mike of Cedar Rapids and Deborah Walter and husband Bill of Aurora, Illinois; three grandchildren, Justin, Katie, and Devin Stramel; a brother, Donald C. Hoskins of Cedar Rapids and fiancé Janet Johnson; three half-sisters, Della Riggins and husband Roger of Robins, Charity Madren, and Cynthia Curran of Marion.

Also surviving are three-sisters-in-law, Marilyn Maynard and husband Jerry of Iowa City, Frana Potter and husband Stephen of East Lansing, Michigan and Marvel VanNote and husband Dean of Winthrop; many nieces and nephews; and his "puppies? Max and Mindy. He was preceded in death by his son and best friend, Rob Hoskins Jr. in 1984, his parents, his in-laws, Charles and Helen Tritle, and a half-brother, De Decker.

He was born on June 23, 1941, in Cedar Rapids. He was the son of Ralph and Helen Petersen Hoskins. On November 13, 1959, he was united in marriage to Linda Tritle in the Marion Christian Church. Robert was employed at Rockwell Collins for thirty-seven years.

Following his retirement from Rockwell, he joined his wife, Linda, in the day to day operations of their store, FrameWorks. Bob attended Marion Rural Independent Schools and graduated from Marion High School in 1959. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion.

Bob enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, the Hawkeyes and NASCAR. His favorite pastime was watching his granddaughter, Devin, participate in sports. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Bob touched many lives in many different ways. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

Bob gave the gift of life through organ donation with the Iowa Donors Network.

A memorial fund has been established in Bob's memory.
