Robert F. Holecek, 74, of 1255 8th St., Marion, died Friday, March 19, 2004, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Faith Lutheran Church, Marion, by the Rev. John Albertson and Rev. Susan Reihman. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday (March 24) at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores; his children, Ruth Ann (George) Macke of Houston, Texas, and Robert J. Holecek, John T. (Robin) Holecek and James A. Holecek, all of Marion; two grandchildren, Christine and Emily Holecek of Marion; two stepgrandchildren, Kayla and Eric Macke of Houston, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Debra Kay; a brother, Joe; and two sisters, Louise and Betty.

Bob was born on April 22, 1929, in Cedar Rapids to Joseph and Mary Hartman Holecek. He was married to Dolores McCord on November 11, 1950, in Cedar Rapids. Bob was employed for forty-five years at Quaker Oats, where he retired in 1989 as a pipe fitter. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for many years receiving the Silver Beaver award and Scouter of the Year in 1970. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where he served on the building committee. Bob also had served as president of the Marion Evening Kiwanis Club. He was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Park Rapids, Minnesota. He was an accomplished woodworker.

A memorial fund has been established in memory of Bob for Faith Lutheran Church, 155 Boyson Road, Marion, IA 52302.
