Robert F. Fettkether

Robert F. Fettkether, 89, a resident of Hallmark Care Center, Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and longtime resident of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, December 22, 2012. Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2012, at Sacred Heart Church, in Oelwein, Iowa. The family will greet friends after 9:30 a.m. at the church. Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Military honors provided by Ross Reid American Legion Post #9.
Survivors include his children, Tom Fettkether and Bill (Teresa) Fettkether both of Cedar Rapids, Sharon (Kurt) Rothbart of Lisbon and Fred (Annie) Fettkether of Texas; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Patricia (Al) Chidester, Harold (Agnes) Fettkether, and Norbert (Leah) Fettkether.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marian; daughter, Carol Fettkether; sister, Mary; and two brothers, Charles and Leon.
Born October 13, 1923, in Orrin, Iowa, Robert was the son of Martin and Genevieve (Kolb) Fettkether. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. On September 6, 1950, he was united in marriage to Marian Schuler in Hazelton, Iowa. He worked for Sanitary Farm Dairies and Land of Lakes until retiring.
