Robert “Bob” L. Eiben, 86, a resident of Lisbon Rehabilitation Center, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, Central City. The family will also greet friends one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will take place at Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Robert was born December 18, 1931, at the Matzel farm in rural Viola, the son of Louis and Mary (Van Slyke) Eiben. He attended one room school houses as well as Morley School. On May 28, 1955, in Anamosa, Bob was united in marriage to Geneva A. Wart, she passed away in 1993. He worked as a welder and forklift driver for Allis-Chalmers and P&H and was a member of Bible Community Church in rural Central City. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. He was a Minnesota Vikings fan and a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. Bob enjoyed his family, family events, and attending his grandchildren’s’ activities and sporting events. He was a hardworking man that will be missed by all who knew and loved him and he will always be remembered.
He is survived by his significant other of 15 years, Darlene Moncrief of Amber; five sons, Terry (Peggy) Eiben of Central City, Steve (Jane) Eiben of Springville, Kenny (Diane) Eiben of Marion, John (Susanne) Eiben of Frankenthal Germany, and Lynn (Laura) Eiben of Marion; 15 grandchildren, Kola Eiben, Thomas (Linsey) Eiben, Mary (Jason) Barnes, Nancy (Mike) Lyman, Katie (Cody) Osburn, Krystal Eiben, Jessica Eiben, Whitney Eiben, Katherine (Jeff) Fraas, Justin Eiben, Michael (Anastasia) Eiben, Melissa Eiben, Patrick Eiben, Melody (Patrick) Falco, and Becky Eiben; 16 great-grandchildren, Mekhi Benton, Addison Eiben, Mason Eiben, Clark Barnes, Emily Lyman, Brooks Lyman, Noah Osburn, Ellie Osburn, Alex Eiben, Gabriel Eiben, Anthony Eiben, Jasmine Eiben, Jeremy Fisher, Parker Wittenburg, Autumn Eiben, and Misty Eiben; and brother, Don (Carol) Eiben of Anamosa.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geneva; infant sister, Donna; and brother, Paul Eiben.
A memorial fund has been established in Bob’s memory.
