Robert “Bob” I. Crane, 91, of Springville, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at his home. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Springville Cemetery in Springville. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion, Iowa, is assisting the family.
Bob was born on May 19, 1931, in Littleport, Iowa, the son of Jasper and Anna (Malary) Crane. He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Babak on July 4, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. To this union, five children were born, Julie, Cathy, Brian, Ronald, and Dennis. Bob worked for Borden Ice Cream, and later Link-Belt Inc. in Cedar Rapids for 33 and a half years. He went on to work for the Springville School District until his retirement. Bob was a collector of cigarette lighters. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to casino, and playing scratch off lotto tickets. Bob loved to visit with anyone and always had a story to tell. He especially loved family visits. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bob is survived and lovingly remembered by his five children, Julie Mann of Homestead, Iowa, Cathy (Bryan) Horak of Marion, Iowa, Brian Crane of Central City, Iowa, Ronald (Pam) Crane of Springville, and Dennis Crane of Dallas Center, Iowa; four grandchildren, Jennifer (William) Geoghagan, Jeremy Mann, Wayne Mann, and Nicole Crane; seven great-grandchildren, Miley, Kai, Willow, McKenna, Cayden, Charlee, and Nolan; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 61 years, Patricia Crane in 2020; son-in-law, Doug Grimm; three brothers, Raymond, Leonard, and Edward; and three sisters, Katie, Delores, and Geraldine.
