The family will greet friends from 4 pm to 7 pm Thursday, September 4, at the funeral home. Private burial at a later date.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Betty Lou Craig; son, Keith (Cory) Craig of Olds, Iowa; daughters, Cindy (Brad) Hutchins and Regina (Bob) Tiernan of Marion, Iowa, Kathy (Kyle) Koch of Swisher, Iowa, and Krysti Jasper (Scott Carlson) of Cedar Rapids; 15 grandchildren; and 10 ½ great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Craig; dear friends, brother-in-law, Bill Harry and sister-in-law, Carol Kramer.
Bob was born March 19, 1934, in Adair County, Iowa, son of Ethel Craig. Bob graduated from Orient High School and worked for Western Electric/Northwestern Bell for 34 years taking early retirement. He then did contract work for Rockwell Collins for 11 years. Later, Bob worked grounds maintenance for Marion Schools.
Bob had a gift for making friends with anyone he met in any walk of life. Bob enjoyed anything that involved family, camping, racing, Cubs, or any project you had going on at the time. From helping on the farm to finishing your basement, he was there for the duration. Bob really enjoyed his winters in Arizona and the many friends he made there. His legacy will live on through all that were lucky enough to know him.
Bob handled his battle with cancer the way he lived his life, with courage, humor and no complaints.
Special thanks to the Hospice Unit at St. Luke’s Hospital and Dr. Wook Lee for his compassionate care.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Bob.
