Robert Peter Cella, Jr., 75, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at his home. Funeral Mass: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Philip Thompson. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the mass at the church on Thursday.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Mary Frances (Steven) Pohlman, and Robert Henry Cella; three grandchildren, Jack, Carolyn, and Carter; sister, Alice (Edward) Brady; and brother, Peter (Barbara) Cella.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Robert Peter Cella Sr., and grandparents.
Robert was born July 30, 1937, in New Rochelle, NY, the son of Robert Peter Sr. and Frances (Moneuse) Cella. He graduated from Fordham University in New York. Robert married Barbara Marie VanBrederode in Bronxville, NY, in 1960. He was an accountant and retired from International Paper. Robert was a long time parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, and a member of Indian Creek Country Club, where he was a former President. He was a Rotarian and enjoyed golf. Robert was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Catholic Charities, or to the American Heart Association.
