Robert "Bob" C. Skalsky

Robert “Bob” C. Skalsky, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home, Saturday, September 17, 2016, following a long illness. Per Bob’s wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores, of 68 years; children, Chris (Mary) Skalsky of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Steven R. (Liz) Skalsky of Cedar Rapids, Susan (Andrew) Wille of Cedar Rapids, Laura Skalsky (Kyle) Lundberg of Cedar Rapids; 4 granddaughters, Karen and Rebecca Skalsky and Leslie and Claire Wille; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Margaret Skalsky and his brother Donald J. Skalsky.
Robert Charles Skalsky was born November 7, 1928, the son of Joseph and Margaret (Bruna) Skalsky. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1946. Following high school he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served proudly from 1946 – 1947. Bob attended Coe College. He married Dolores Antles on September 4, 1948 in Center Point, Iowa. Bob started working as a printer for the Cedar Rapids Gazette before he put himself through night school to become a stock broker. He began his brokerage career with Lamson Bros. and retired from A.G. Edwards. Bob was a member of an investment club, the Elk’s Club, and a poker club. Bob was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed fishing, dancing, gardening, cooking, traveling and playing cards.
