Robert “Bob” M. Mitchell, 70, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Winslow House in Marion, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 22, 2016, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, Iowa. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at the funeral home conducted by Vicki Standley. Burial will be at Springville Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Marion American Legion Post #298.
Robert is survived by his children, Rob Mitchell of Marion and Teresa (Quinn Nissen) Mitchell of Cedar Rapids; one grandchild on the way; and his siblings, Bill (Charity) Mitchell of Springville and Kay (Ken) Stanford of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Karen Saari.
Robert was born August 28, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Maurice and Zereta (Port) Mitchell. Bob served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Shirley Smith and they later divorced. Bob was a long-time tractor parts salesman and most recently was parts manager for Iowa Implement. He was a member of the Marion First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post #298 in Marion.
