Robert Arnold Kimm, 64, of Solon, formerly of Marion, left his earthly body for his heavenly body on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center following a long, hard fought 7-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his death. Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 20, 2008, at First Baptist Church, Marion by Rev. Randy Bobzien. The family will greet friends from 4-7 PM, Friday, September 19, 2008 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion with military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 298, Marion.

Bob was born on January 14, 1944, in Cedar Rapids to Nadine June (Hicks) Kimm and Arnold Robert Kimm. He graduated from Marion High School in 1962; from the University of Iowa Law School in 1973(with honors). Bob was in the Security Service in the United States Air Force 1965-1970; being stationed in Mississippi, Taiwan, Texas and at theNational Security Agency in Maryland. Bob was an assistant Linn County Attorney for many years and has been in private practice from 1973 until his time of death.

Bob is survived by his wife of 42 years. On December 26, 1965 he and Charlee Ann Barber were married at the First Baptist Church of Marion. He is survived by his wife and 2 daughters; Danielle (Jeff) Bailey of Newton, IA and Nicole (Steve) Toy of Evansville, IN; his mother-in-law, Connie Short and father-in-law, Yvonne (Lucille) Barber all of Cedar Rapids. His grandchildren; Carson, Gabrielle, Maxwell and Arianna Bailey and Brodey and Braxton Toy; his brother Gary (Sheri) Kimm of Yankton, SD; brother-in-law, Jim Barber of Cedar Rapids and 2 nieces Cathy (Jamie) Krall and children of Mictchell, SD and Heather (Dave) Dahl and children of Bozeman, MT. He is survived by several cousins, with whom he enjoyed spending time. He is predeceased by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents and father-in-law, William Short.

Bob will be remembered as a believer in Christ, an honest man and a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
