A Memorial Service for Robert “Bob” Helmrich who passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020, will be held at the United Methodist Church of Manchester, Manchester, Iowa, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021. Please join his family and friends after a short service for lunch. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family.
Bob was born November 13, 1926, in rural Masonville, Iowa, the son of Rudolph Frederick and Thresa Marie (Sands) Helmrich; he attended Country School. On December 10, 1945, he married Norma Manson in Delaware, Iowa. For 63 years, Bob dedicated his life to hauling milk for dairy farmers; he loved his milk route and the many families he served over the years. Bob was a member of the Dairy Council and was inducted into the Milk Haulers Hall of Fame. He was very loyal and supportive of the Manchester United Methodist Church. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, lots of fishing, gardening and loved mowing eight acres of grass.
Bob is survived by his children, Patricia Ann Helmrich, Manchester and Lois (Gail) Casey, Atlantic, Iowa; he and Norma also raised, Allan Manson, Manchester and David Manson, Fonda, Iowa. Also surviving are grandchildren, Tim Casey of Iowa City, Iowa and Anita (Tim) Casey-Reed of Bismarck North Dakota, and two great-grandchildren Joe Reed and Sofia Casey-Reed; sister JoAnn Harris; sister-in-law, Joyce Hauschild; brother-in-law Carl Hauschild and many very, very, loved nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy (Dean) Manson, Doris (Dale) Pettlon, Hazel Coleman; brother Merle “Casey” (Dottie) Helmrich; brothers-in-law and sisters–in-law, Eileen (Roger) Satterlee, Bud Manson, Margie (Don) Arbegust, Gerald Manson, Hubert Manson, Ronald Manson, Bill (Joan) Manson, Jim (Cate) Manson and Vanita (Walter) Clendennen.
