Bob was born November 3, 1942, in Ryan, Iowa, to Gerald and Rosalyn (Hughes) Harrington. He grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Regis High School. He was a letter carrier for 35 years until his retirement in 2001. He also was the owner/operator of Nancy’s Country Inn for 10 years, where he was affectionately known as “Taco Bob”. Bob was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus No. 909 and the SaPaDaPaSo. He loved the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes and NASCAR racing.
Bob was a simple man with simple pleasures. His greatest pleasures were his family, sitting on the deck watching the birds at home on Berry Road, and having beers in the basement. He will be remembered for his quick wit, and sometimes relentless teasing.
A special thank-you to Dr. Warren and the nurses in the oncology department at St. Luke’s Hospital.
