Robert "Bob? E. Hackert, 79, of 972 6th St., died Friday, August 25, 2006, at St. Luke?s Hospital, following a short illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Mike Morgan. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids with military honors by American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Marion; three children, Robin (Randy) Jones of Cedar Rapids, Diane Morris and Phillip of Marion, and John (Jolene) Hackert of Marion; a sister, Marge Davin of Marion; five grandchildren, Cory, Ryan, Erin, Andy, and Allison; and a special dog, "Bud?.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bob was born August 2, 1927, the son of John E. and Nellie M. (Cory) Hackert in Alburnett. He graduated from Alburnett High School. On October 24, 1952, he married Bonnie Brundidge in Marion. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Bob worked at Appleby and Horn Tile Co. for over forty years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, and was an avid Cubs fan. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be greatly missed.
