Robert “Bob” L. Fitzsimmons, 56, of Shellsburg, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. Visitation: 3:00 – 6:00p.m., Monday, July 10, 2017, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a service following the visitation at 6:00p.m.
Survivors include his spouse, Shawn; step-children, Richard (fiancé, Bre) and Erica Engbretson; siblings, Cheri (Ken) Brown, Diana (Jimmy) Armbruster, Shelly Christopherson and Kevin Fitzsimmons; aunt, Florence Austell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Adam; and aunt, Dolores.
Bob was born on March 7, 1961, in Des Moines, Iowa, son of Ardean and Edna (Swick) Fitzsimmons. On June 23, 2011, Bob and Shawn (Toyne- Engbretson) were united in marriage in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Bob owned and operated Tile Guys for 25 years. He enjoyed rebuilding cars and worked on a pit crew at Hawkeye Downs. Bob also enjoyed boating on his pontoon boat and being with the dog of his life, “Zoey”.
