Heaven has received another angel: Robert “Bob” Bradley, 81, of Marion, died Monday, May 10, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Per Bob’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Inurnment: Center Grove Cemetery, Dubuque, Iowa. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Kathryn; children, Susan Grace of Marion, Sandra (John) Tibor of Marion, and Robert G. (Karla) Bradley of Marion; grandchildren, David L. (fiancé Jess Li) Benesch, Emily R. Grace, Holly (Corey) Baxa and son, Bryce, Bradley Tibor and Brandon & Adam Bradley; brother William Bradley of Dubuque; 2 sisters, Mary Link of Franklin, Wisconsin, and Barb Schroeder of Dubuque; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Lou & Loras Bellmann of Dubuque; and his faithful canine companion, Sami.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert was born November 24, 1928, the son of Melvin and Dorothea (Vollenweider) Bradley, in Bridgeport, Wisconsin. He married Kathryn J. “Kate” Beresford on May 22, 1956, in Galena, Illinois. Bob worked as truck driver for 31 years for Teamsters Union Local # 238 of Cedar Rapids. After retirement, Bob worked for the Cedar Rapids Country Club. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of American Legion Post #298 of Marion. Bob loved NASCAR, fishing, gambling, playing cards, trips to Branson, Missouri and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
