Robert Moon Bickel, 86, of the Meth-Wick Retirement Community, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died there Friday, April 13, 2007, following a long illness. His body has been donated to the University of Iowa College of Medicine. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, Iowa City at a date to be determined. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.

Surviving are his wife, Joan; their three daughters, Frances (Charles) Disselhorst of Iowa City, Wendy Britten of Ames, Deborah (Marcus) Baukol of Thousand Oaks, California; a son, Robert Hampton (Yvonne) Bickel of Marengo; eleven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Marjory Leonard of Keokuk and Kathryn Anderson of Iowa City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Ruth Jones of Davenport.
Robert was born in 1921 in Vinton, Iowa, the son of George Hampton Bickel and Kate Moon. He graduated from Vinton High School in 1938, from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 1942. Until November 1945, he served in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps. In 1943 he married Joan Hady in Boston and following Navy discharge they raised their family in Iowa City. For seven years he was a pharmaceutical representative for Parke Davis Company and until retirement in 1983, was owner and operator of the Pearson and Pearson Towncrest Pharmacies in Iowa City.
Robert was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Iowa City from 1947 to 1996. In 1996 Robert and his wife Joan moved to Meth-Wick Retirement Community in Cedar Rapids and joined Christ Episcopal Church, Cedar Rapids.
Memorials may be directed to Christ Episcopal Church, Cedar Rapids, Trinity Episcopal Church, Iowa City, Meth-Wick Retirement Community or Amenity Hospice.
