Robert “Bob” Benesch, 86 of Center Point, Iowa, died Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Center Point, by Chaplain Joe Kane. Family will greet friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the funeral home. Military honors by the American Legion Dye Benion Post # 297. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point.
Survivors include his wife, Rita of Center Point; children, Gerald (Jane) Benesch of Center Point and Peggy (Wayne) Andrews of Marion; grandchildren, Randy (Liz) Benesch, Rick (Donna) Benesch, Roxanne (Jack) Johnson, Renee (Jon) Moore, Aaron Andrews, Bryan Andrews and Sally (Michael) Del Llano; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two special nieces, Terry Benesch and Sharon Fields; one special cousin, Freda Brandt; brother-in-law, Bob Lala; and sister-in-law, Barbara Boyer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Goldie Benesch; brother, Gerald Benesch; two brothers-in-law, Lynn Boyer and Donald Boyer; three sisters-in-law, Georgia Benesch, Leone Lala and Betty Boyer; and two grandsons, Ronnie Benesch and Rod Benesch.
Bob was born January 22, 1927, in Center Point, Iowa, son of Franklin and Goldie (Mounce) Benesch. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. Bob married Rita Boyer on February 13, 1944, at St. Mary’s of Spencer Grove in Urbana, Iowa. He worked as an expeditor at Iowa Manufacturing for 42 years. Bob enjoyed traveling the United States for the last 20 years. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time at his cabin, working on his Studebaker and having coffee at The Pizza Place, but most of all he enjoyed his family and friends.
