Rita May Werner, 69, of 1701 10th St NW, died Tuesday, January 28, 2003, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids following a sudden illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2003, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Beverly Dittmar (Wes Stripling), Robert Dittmar, Richard (Debbie) Dittmar, and Marvin (Becki) Dittmar of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Rosie Kettmann of Bellevue, Iowa; a brother, Lester Motsch of Dubuque, Iowa; four step-children, Annette (Mike) Marsh of Cedar Rapids, Ralph (Mary) Werner of Utah, Jody (Jim) Kelsey of Solon, Larry (Chris) Werner of Center Point; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and 26 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lou; an infant son, David; and a brother-in-law, Milton Kettmann.
Rita was born May 22, 1933, the daughter of John and Eleanor (Arensdorf) Wieseler in St. Donatas, Iowa. She married Louis C. Werner in Cedar Rapids on February 16, 1980. He died in September 12, 1997. Rita was especially close to her grandson, Danny, her niece, Diane, and her dog, Coco.
