Rita C. Reynolds, 81, of Dothan, Alabama, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, December 6, 2006, in Wiregrass Medical Center, Geneva, Alabama, following an extended illness. The family will greet friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, T. C. Reynolds; three daughters, Michele Reynolds, Palo, Iowa, Denita Reynolds, Dothan, Alabama and Jeannine Plummer Reynolds, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Also surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Ardis and Warren Jones, Fenton, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Maxine Melton, Shellsburg, Iowa; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas T. Reynolds and a brother, Max Melton.
Rita was born May 8, 1925, in Shellsburg, Iowa, and lived the early years of her life in Palo, Iowa. She graduated from Upper Iowa College where she earned her Associates Degree in Elementary Education and taught school for 35 years prior to her retirement. Rita and her husband had lived in the Dothan area since 1987 and were faithful members of Cornerstone Bible Church. In her spare time she loved to travel and paint, but her two favorite things were genealogy and spending time with her grandchildren and even home schooled some of them. Rita is now in a far better place, but she will be sadly missed as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
