Rita B. Haas, 76, of Coggon, died Friday, August 1, 2003, in the Long Term Care Unit of People?s Hospital in Independence, following a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2003, at St. John?s Catholic Church, Coggon, by the Rev. Wayne Droessler. Burial: Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Coggon. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Central City, with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m.
Surviving are her children, Joe Haas of Cedar Rapids, John (friend, Julie) Haas of Coggon, Sharon (Daniel) Reiter of Coggon, Marilyn Gillis of Cedar Rapids, Janice (Leo) Coleman of Coggon, JoAnn (friend, Ron) Boring of Center Point and Mary (Terry) Moroney of Masonville; her brothers and sisters, Anna Mae Petrick, Kathleen Mangold, Mary Jencks, Genevieve Welsh, Josephine Stallman and Regis McNamara.
Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Joseph, Edward and Robert.
Rita was born the daughter of Clarence and Katherine Henry McNamara on November 19, 1926, in Anamosa. On June 20, 1945, she married Eugene F. Haas. They later were divorced. For seventeen years, she was employed at Rockwell Collins as an assembler. Rita was a life member of St. John?s Catholic Church in Coggon, the Rosary and Alter Society and a member of IBEW Union Local No. 1632.
